about

Having already gained full support from Daddy G of Massive Attack and the legendary Laurent Garnier, London-based beat maker ‘Pause’ delivers his second EP for Plexus Records out on 02.12.2013, entitled ‘Distance EP’.

‘Distance’ is a captivating listen from the get go; it’s sonic textures, depth and warmth create an ethereal experience throughout. Opening track ‘Sink’ combines stretched organic sounds with irregular drum programming, conjuring up an otherworldly dub vibe. Elsewhere the deep groove of ‘Plucky’ allows room for haunting atmospherics, driving elastic bass and dynamic swells. Picking up the tempo, ‘Flesh Tones’ combines wonky, off kilter beats against a throbbing over driven bass line amounting to an unconventional dance floor tune. The underwater soundscape of ‘Slo Thing’ utilises elongated vocals whilst pads hang overhead and the combination of found sounds, shimmering bells and fluctuating arpeggios result in a perfect sonic interlude. The EP concludes with ‘One’; a haunting, infectious vocal melody provided by songstress Stac (Wah Wah 45’s), swung, repetitive rhythms, deep brooding bass line and catchy synth lines – building the perfect juxtaposition between human and machine.

Support:

Daddy G – Massive Attack 9/10 ” Weird and wonderful, love Sink”

Laurent Garnier 8/10 ” A great Electronica EP”

Dom Servini (Wah Wah 45′s) 9/10 “Sublime EP from a name to watch”

Paul Chillage (The Chillage Idiots) 10/10 “Excellent EP from Pause, so many tracks to choose from for the radio show, it’ll be a hard choice.”
