Plexus Records are proud to present their debut release from up and coming talent Pause, and his first track for Plexus ‘Falsey’ features a solid remix by one of the most progressive underground beatmakers in the game Reso.
In the wake of the more electro-led ‘Black Holes & White Noise’ EP, Pause delivers this deep lo-fi 2-step number. Warm synths sit next to satisfyingly crisp beats and dusty drums. The bouncing bassline hums alongside gentle outer space instrumentals and a tangible human element that grows more encompassing with every listen.
As well as digging deep into his sample library (and the cosmos), Pause’s production breathes life into the track with a live squelchy Moog synth solo. He discovered his unity with the hardware as part of his Glade festival appearance last year, and it has since become a welcome addition to his live repertoire.
The remix comes courtesy of bass mutater Reso. His reworking of ‘Falsey’ is a subtle combination built around playful ghost notes, dubbed-out reverb, sub bass and atmospheric flourishes. With this remix Reso is indulging his love of ambient sounds and the lighter side of bass music showcasing an attention to detail that could only come from a versatile Jazz-funk drummer.
Falsey is the perfect introduction to the ethos and mindset of Plexus Records and a taste of what’s to follow from this emerging independent label.
